Presenter: Kenny Sherin with Karen Sherin
Kenny and Karen Sherin live in Dimock, South Dakota, and work in rural community and economic development both on and off the Native American reservations. Poverty rates in South Dakota are some of the highest in the U.S., with a majority being on the reservations. The problems of poverty are further exacerbated because of isolation and lack of support and awareness. Hear about their work and learn helpful tools to help your church listen, engage, and resource your community in healthy ways. We will also discuss ways to engage in healthy, long-term partnerships with people in impoverished communities.
This resource is particularly helpful for persons interested in community development, rural ministry, rural poverty, and Native American ministry. See below for more resources.
